Columbus Reassigns Hendrikx and Wharton; Crunch Recall Garlock

Syracuse, NY (December 20, 2008) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have reassigned defensemen Trevor Hendrikx and Kyle Wharton from Syracuse to Johnstown (ECHL). In addition, the Crunch have recalled center Ryan Garlock from Johnstown.

Hendrikx, 23, appeared in two games with the Crunch and registered seven penalty minutes. He has also skated in 17 games with Johnstown this season, tallying one goal, four assists and 40 penalty minutes. A native of Russell, Ontario, Hendrikx was originally drafted by Columbus in the ninth round, 283rd overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and again in the seventh round, 201st overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Wharton, 22, has appeared in five games with the Crunch this season, posting four penalty minutes. He has also skated in 13 games for Johnstown this season, notching one goal, six assists and 14 penalty minutes. A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Wharton was drafted by Columbus in the second round, 59th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Garlock, 22, has appeared in eight games for the Crunch this season, recording 11 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 13 games for Johnstown this year, racking up eight goals, 15 assists and 22 penalty minutes. A native of Iroquois Falls, Ontario, Garlock was signed by the Crunch to a standard players' contract on October 8, 2008.

The Crunch return home on Saturday, December 20 for a 7:30 p.m. contest against the Lake Erie Monsters.
