The Springfield Falcons beat the Worcester Sharks 2-0 at the DCU Center on Tuesday afternoon extending their point streak to five straight games (3-0-1-1). Devan Dubnyk recorded the shutout for the Falcons making 46 saves helping improve Springfield's record to 6-3-2-1 on the season.

In a first period that saw Worcester outshoot Springfield 15-4, Derek Bekar opened the scoring at 11:29 of the opening frame when he tallied his third goal of the season. Rob Bina was making his AHL debut and he collected an assist on Bekar's goal.

Gilbert Brule added an empty net goal with less than a minute remaining in regulation. The Falcons penalty killers were outstanding once again killing off all seven shorthanded situations.

Falcons defenseman Jake Taylor lef the game in the first period with a lower body injury and didn't return.

FALCONS PRE-GAME NOTES

Rookie defenseman Taylor Chorney recorded his first multi-point game of his pro career when he collected two assists on November 8 at Hartford. Chorney has five assists and five points in 11 games this season and he leads all Springfield blueliners in assists and is tied with Theo Peckham for the club lead in scoring among defensemen.

Liam Reddox scored his fifth goal of the season on Saturday night in Hartford and he now has recorded a point in six of his last seven games collecting five goals and two assists in that span.

Gilbert Brule scored two goals on Saturday, November 8 in Hartford giving him four goals and one assist for five points in six games played. Brule has missed five games due to injury.

Rob Schremp continues to be an assist machine as he now has 10 helpers in nine games this season. Schremp has registered at least a point in eight of nine games this season and he is currently on a four-game scoring streak (0-5-5).

Devan Dubnyk continues to carry the workload between the pipes having started all 11 games this season. Dubnyk has played in 628 of a possible 668 total minutes for the Falcons this season posting a 2.77 goals against average and .906 save percentage.

Guillaume Lefebvre played in his 300th career AHL game on November 8 at Hartford.

Tim Sestito played in his 100th career AHL game on November 7 at Portland.

Tyler Spurgeon played in his 100th pro game on November 7 at Portland, 39 ECHL games and 61 in the AHL.

SHARKS PRE-GAME NOTES

Tom Cavanagh leads Worcester in scoring with six goals and five assists for 11 points in 11 games.

Former Falcons All-Star Ryan Vesce is second on the Sharks in scoring with one goal and nine assists for 10 points in 11 games.

Cory Larose is averaging a point-a-game for Worcester collecting five goals and four assists for nine points in eight games.

Former Boston Bruins defenseman Kyle McLaren has four assists in 10 games with Worcester, including 10 penalty minutes and a +2 rating.
