Falcons Beat Phoenix 4-2 to Sweep Weekend Series

FRESNO, CALIFORNIA - The Fresno Falcons beat the Phoenix Roadrunners 4-2 Sunday night capping a perfect weekend of hockey sweeping the weekend series with three wins giving the Falcons a firm hold on first place in the Pacific Division.

Falcons Adam Berti opened the scoring at 5:11 of the first period, his first goal of the season. Phoenix answered with two power play goals to put Phoenix ahead 2-1. Phoenix held on to their lead until 3:22 in the third period when Dustin Sproat scored the first goal of his professional career to tie the game. Sproat was not finished. At 8:04 of the third period he scored his second goal of the evening to put the Falcons ahead 3-2. Matt Stefanishion finished the scoring on an unassisted goal at 15:07 of the third.

Goaltender Joe Fallon made 29 saves to win his fourth game in four starts. Overall this season Fallon is 7-2-0 in nine starts.

The game was a hard fought battle culminating in a season high 99 minutes of penalties between the two teams including seven major penalties for fighting.

Falcons return to Selland Arena for an after Thanksgiving game on Friday, November 28, 2008 to host the Idaho Steelheads at 7:35 p.m. Fans are asked to bring a coat to the game to support the Salvation Army's Coats for Kids Drive.
