Falcons And Mary Kay Announce Pink At The Rink Ii For February 9

Fresno, CA...The Fresno Falcons and the Central Valley Mary Kay Directors have officially announced plans for Pink at the Rink II with Mary Kay and the Falcons. Pink at the Rink II will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 7:30pm when the Falcons battle the Stockton Thunder at the Save Mart Center. The Falcons will once again wear pink jerseys to be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation (MKACF) for Breast Cancer Research and Domestic Violence Shelter Funding.
Pink at the Rink II is presented by Beazer Homes.
Last season, Pink at the Rink attracted more than 14,000 fans, establishing a new Falcons single game attendance record and a new Falcons jersey auction record. The Pink Falcons Jerseys were auctioned off for more than $ 42,000.00 after the game. The Falcons were able to donate $ 35,000 to the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, making Fresno's Pink at the Rink the largest single event Mary Kay fundraiser in the entire country for 2007.
Pink at the Rink with Mary Kay and the Falcons has inspired several ECHL teams, along with other professional hockey teams, minor league baseball, WNBA and NBA teams to host similar events. The inaugural Pink at the Rink with Mary Kay was held in March of 2005 with the now defunct Motor City Mechanics of the United Hockey League. This was during the NHL lockout season when the Mechanics roster included Detroit Red Wings Chris Chelios and Derian Hatcher, along with NHL players Bryan Smolinski and Sean Avery, all who wore the Pink Mechanics jerseys and helped raise more than $ 18,000.00 for the MKACF. In 2006 the now defunct San Diego Gulls promoted a Pink at the Rink with Mary Kay and the Gulls, and the Falcons picked the promotion back up in 2007 followed by a handful of other ECHL teams.
