Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs had a slow week last week with only one contest on Saturday November, 10 against Reading. The Chiefs will look to rebound from that 6-2 defeat with home games against Dayton and Trenton this weekend.
This week:
11/16 vs. Dayton
The Chiefs welcome the Bombers to the UPMC Health Plan Ice Rink for the first time this season for the second of 10 meetings between the North Division foes this year. The Bombers began the season series with a 5-3 win on November 2 at the Nutter Center. Yannick Tifu paced Dayton with two power play goals in the second period. The Chiefs trailed 5-0 through 40 minutes, but rallied for three third-period goals by Kris Kasper, Mike Knight, and Nicolas Bachand. While the rally fell short, the Chiefs will look to play off of the momentum it created come Friday night.
11/17 vs. Trenton
The Chiefs and Devils are becoming quite familiar with one another as the teams have played twice already through Johnstown's first 10 games. Ian Herbers' squad holds a 2-0-0 advantage in the season series, winning in 4-2 Trenton and, most recently, 3-2 in Johnstown on Halloween. Back on Oct. 31 Trenton held a 2-1 lead heading into the final six minutes of the third period, but Rob Drummond and Kris Kasper broke through the Devils trapping defense to help Johnstown to its fourth one-goal win of the season.
Tough Sledding up North
Through eight games, the Chiefs are 4-4-0 against North Division opponents in 2007-08. Johnstown will have many opportunities to pick up points within the division as 62 of the team's 72 games come against divisional opponents. The Chiefs most common non-divisional opponent is South Carolina with four games against the Stingrays. The season series is even at one win each between the Chiefs and Rays; they split two games on Oct. 24 and 27.

Last Week:
11/10 vs. Reading Royals: L 2-6
The Chiefs fell to 0-2-0 against Reading this year after Chris Blight exploded for four goals leading Reading to the 6-2 victory. Mike Knight and Andrew Martens tied the game at 1-1 and 2-2 after Ned Lukacevic and Blight had given the visitors one-goal leads. After Blight scored his second at 8:09 of period number two to make it 3-2 the Royals never looked back. Patrick Jarrett scored Reading's sixth at 14:44 of the third to set the final after Blight finished his natural hat trick in the second, and potted his fourth at 12:30 of the third. Ryan Nie took his second loss of the season, making 15 saves on 21 shots.
Royal Pains
Johnstown allowed six goals to Reading in each of the teams' first two match ups at the UPMC Health Plan Ice Rink. The Chiefs have averaged an even three goals against per game in their eight other games this year, but have been unable to hold the Royals under six.
