July 18, 2015 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas (Saturday, July 18) - FC Dallas midfielder Fabian Castillo was part of the 22-man MLS All-Star game day roster that will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game, MLS announced today.
Castillo will represent MLS in the midsummer showcase at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. on Wednesday, July 29, at 9 p.m. ET, live on FOX Sports 1, UniMás, TSN and RDS.
The Colombian speedster leads FC Dallas with seven goals and six assists in 17 games started this season. Castillo is tied for fourth in MLS in assists and 10th in the league in goals.
The 22-man roster is comprised of 20 players selected by All-Star head coach Pablo Mastroeni, taking into consideration the Fan XI and MLS player voting, as well as the two Commissioner's Picks. The game day roster, including representatives from 14 teams across MLS, is a mix of 12 All-Star newcomers and 10 All-Star veterans.
Two MLS All-Stars have extensive knowledge of this year's opponent as Keane and Dempsey both have suited up for Tottenham. Keane spent a total of eight seasons with the London-based team (2002-08, 2009-11) notching 91 goals in 238 appearances. Dempsey joined Spurs in 2012 after five seasons with their English Premier League foe Fulham. The Sounders FC forward recorded seven goals in 29 appearances for Tottenham before returning to MLS in 2013.
