Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release

The Eau Claire Express pushed across three runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to beat the Border Cats 5-2 Wednesday night at Carson Park. The winning run scored on a bases-loaded walk as Thunder Bay's second half record fell to 6-18.

The Cats rallied to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the 8th inning as Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State University) walked and ended up scoring on a wild pitch and Kyle Hann (Mississippi State University) hit a sacrifice fly to plate Jason Vosler (Northeasterrn University). Vosler went 2-3 on the night, but the Cats managed only five hits in the loss.

Daniel Stoney (Madonna University) was the losing pitcher in relief, dropping his record to 1-3. Steven Cazares (Sterling College) had a quality start as he pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed just two runs. The righthander gave up six hits and three walks while striking out five.

The Cats and Express close out their two-game series tonight at 7:35pm ET. Righthander Chris Kerwood (Arkansas State University) will take his 4-4 record to the mound for Thunder Bay.
