TUCSON, Ariz. - A nine-run second inning by the Tucson Padres (21-18) built an insurmountable lead as the Round Rock Express (20-19) fell for the fourth straight game at Keno Sports Complex Tuesday night, 12-1.

After dropping two consecutive heartbreakers to the Padres, Tucson brought its bats early to put the Express in a deep hole. Right-hander Jake Brigham took the ball for the E-Train in hopes of rebounding from his last outing in which he failed to record an out while allowing three runs to the Las Vegas 51's in relief on May 7.

In the bottom of the second, Brigham's plans unraveled after he plunked left fielder Jonathan Galvez to start what would become a long inning. The Padres added two more singles to plate Galvez and then played small ball, sacrificing the runners to second and third on a bunt by center fielder Jaff Decker. Tucson kept racking up the hits, scoring two more runs after a single and throwing error on a pick-off attempt by Brigham, bringing the score to 3-0.

The Padres loaded the bases but Brigham was able to strikeout first baseman Brandon Allen for the second out of the inning. Tucson then added a single and three straight doubles as the score reached 9-0 before the second inning came to a close. Brigham's night would end after 1.2 innings as the E-Train reached to its bullpen, bringing right-hander Yoshinori Tateyama into the game to finish off the second.

The Express offense was slow to start as well, posting just two singles through the first four innings off Padres starter Wilfredo Boscan.

Left fielder Joey Butler put the E-Train on the board in the top of the sixth with a sacrifice fly to plate Engel Beltre after the center fielder led off the frame with his 11th double of the season.

The Padres tacked on three more runs in the bottom half of the sixth, all charged to reliever Nate Robertson.

In a game that featured a combined 13 runs and 27 hits, neither team left the yard but the 12-1 victory equated to the first sweep of the Express in 2013. Brigham (0-1) suffered the loss, his first of the season while Boscan (1-1) picked up the victory after 5.0 scoreless innings.

After an off day on Wednesday, the Express returns home to begin an eight-game homestand which will include the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Colorado Rockies) and Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks). The action will get underway on Thursday, May 16 at 7:05 p.m. when the Sky Sox make their first trip to Dell Diamond in 2013.
