Aces Split Series with Cubs

RENO, Nev.-Reno's bats came alive on Tuesday afternoon, as the Aces posted three multi-hit innings en route to an 11-1 victory in the series finale against the Iowa Cubs at Aces Ballpark.

With the win, the Aces secured their fifth series split of the season.

Reno's onslaught began in the second, as the first five Reno batters reached base and three runs were pushed across, before an out was recorded.

Six of Reno's starting position players registered a multi-hit game, as the Aces combined for 16 hits on the afternoon. Catcher Tuffy Gosewisch recorded his first four hit game of the season, hitting four singles on the afternoon. Kila Ka'ihue was the lone Aces player in the starting lineup to not gather a hit, but he was walked three times.

RHP Chase Anderson earned the win for his effort. He gave up just one earned run on four hits through 7.0 innings, while striking out six. Relievers Bo Schultz and Evan Marshall combined to shutout the Cubs over the final two frames of the game.

RHP Barrett Loux was charged with his second loss of the season for Iowa. He gave up seven earned runs on nine hits through just 3.1 innings, while striking out two.

The Aces will enjoy their second off day of the season on Wednesday, before leaving town for an eight-game road trip against the Albuquerque Isotopes and Round Rock Express. RHP Charles Brewer (2-3, 4.24 ERA) will get the nod for Reno on Thursday night, while the Isotopes will counter with RHP Blake Johnson (3-2, 4.42 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. PT in Albuquerque.
