
Explorers Win 8-4

Sioux Falls, SD....Two two-run home runs, one by Jason Colson and one by Dustin Jones ignited the Sioux City Explorers to an 8-4 win over Sioux Falls Friday.
Colson's two-run home run came in the fourth inning that gave the Explorers a 2-1 lead at that point and Jones hit his two-run shot in the eighth inning that extended the Explorers lead to 7-4.
Catcher Brett Mieras singled with one out scored Derek Schmerhorn in the eighth inning that gave the Explorers the lead at 5-4 before the two-run home run by Jones.
With the victory, Sioux City extended their lead in the American Association North to a game and a half over St. Paul. The Explorers have now won all four games played against the Canaries at Sioux Falls.
The second game of the three-game series will be played Saturday at Sioux Falls Stadium. Game time 7:05.
