Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

Grand Prairie, TX. Dimitri Camareno put together his second straight gem as he led the AirHogs to their fourth win of the second half, 6-1, over the Shreveport-Bossier Captains.

Camareno almost went the distance but was removed with no outs in the ninth after loading the bases. He needed only ninety-nine pitches in eight innings allowing only three hits, one run, while walking and striking out four. Captains starter Derek Miramontes was not as efficient lasting only five innings allowing seven hits, five runs while walking one and striking out two.

Grand Prairie got on the board first in the first inning on an RBI single by Mike Conroy that followed a Cesar Nicolas base knock.

They added three more in the third when Aaron Garza reached on an error by the shortstop and Brandon Carter reached on a dropped pop-up by the third basemen. Cesar Nicolas followed with an RBI ground rule double to score Garza and advance Carter to third. Mike Conroy walked to load the bases before Chad Gabriel hit a two RBI single to left field to push the lead to 4-0.

The AirHogs would tack on two more runs, one in the fifth and one in the sixth to complete their scoring for the night. Cesar Nicolas opened the fifth with an infield single to short. Mike Conroy then grounded into a fielder's choice erasing Nicolas. After stealing second, Conroy was doubled home by Javier Brito to make the lead 5-0. In the sixth, J.B. Tucker started the inning by doubling to the left field wall. A sacrifice fly by Drew Holder advanced Tucker to third before Jonathan Dziomba drilled a low line drive through the hole in right for his second RBI of the year to make it 6-0.

The Captains threatened in the ninth, getting their lone run while loading the bases in the process. Joe Urtuzuastegui began the ninth with a single for the Captains first hit since the fourth inning. Kevin Griffin walked to put runners at first and second. Bryan Sabatella then reached on an error to load the bases. Pete Incaviglia then went to his bullpen, calling on newcomer Tristan Crawford. Dimitri Camareno was greeted with a standing ovation for his efforts as he exited the mound. Crawford was then able to get Richard Paz to ground into a double play that would score the Captains only run. He then struck out Christopher Garcia to end the game.

Cesar Nicolas led the way for the AirHogs going three for three with an RBI, and a run scored and J.B. Tucker was two for four on the night with a run scored including a double. Kevin Griffin, Richard Paz, and Joe Urtuzuastegui had the three hits for Shreveport-Bossier.

The AirHogs vs. Captains series continues tomorrow night for another Fireworks Saturday Night presented by Color Document Solutions and Organ Donor Awareness Night benefiting The Nicklas Foundation. Gates open at 6 p.m. and game time is set for 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call 972.504.9383 or visit www.airhogsbaseball.com.
