Sioux City Explorers News Release

Sioux Falls, SD.....The Sioux City Explorers exploded for four runs in the sixth inning on their way to an 8-4 win over Sioux Falls Friday.

Trailing 4-2 into the sixth inning, the Explorers sent eight batters to the plate, scoring the four runs on four hits, including two triples and a double. Landon Camp's triple drove in two runs to give the Explorers the lead for good. The Explorers had 13 hits with everyone in the lineup having at least one hit except Lou Palmisano.

The Explorers also had two home runs in the game, a solo home run by Walter Young in the fifth inning, his fifth of the year and a two-run home run by Dustin Jones in the eighth inning, his first of the season and only his second of his career.

Sioux City used five pitchers with rookie Charlie Benz pitching two innings in relief to pick up his first professional win.

With the victory the Explorers are now 17-16 and over the .500 mark for the first time in over a month. The Explorers remain tied for second place in the American Association North with St. Paul, now four games behind division leading Wichita, who lost Friday.

The Explorers and Sioux Falls will meet in the second game of the series Saturday. Game time will be 7:05pm.
