Sioux City...The Sioux City Explorers snapped a five-game losing streak Saturday with a 6-1 win at Lewis and Clark Park over Wichita.
Explorers first baseman Jason Colson drove in four runs, including a three-run home run in the eighth inning that sealed the victory. Colson also had a RBI double in the fourth inning.
Sioux City took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back singles by Dustin Jones and Nick McCoola and a sacrifice fly RBI by Justin Nelson that gave the X's the 1-0 lead.
Explorers pitcher Trevor Fox pitched out of several jams, including the bases loaded twice, to pick up the win, his second against Wichita. With the loss, Wichita left 15 runners on base.
It was the first win at home for the Explorers over Wichita in nine games and only the second win this season by the X's against the Wingnuts.
The final game of the three-game series will be Sunday at 6:05 at Lewis and Clark Park.
