SIOUX CITY, IA- The Wichita Wingnuts defeated the Sioux City Explorers 4-3 at Lewis and Clark Park on Sunday evening.

The Explorers scored first for a second straight game when Jason Colson flared a single into short left field in the bottom of the fourth to score Alex Llanos. Colson drove Llanos in for a second time in the sixth when he singled into center field.

Wichita got on the board in the top of the seventh. Steve Pearson doubled to left field with one out and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Michael Thompson lifted a fly ball to left to drive in Pearson and cut the lead to 2-1.

In the top of the eighth, Brenan Herrera and Josh Horn hit back-to-back singles to open the inning. Greg Porter, who subbed in for Nick Blasi in the bottom of the fifth, followed with a three-run home run over the right-center field fence to turn the game around at 4-2. It was Porter's 16th home run of the season, tying him with Kelly Hunt for the league lead.

Derek Blacksher fired seven strong innings, allowing two runs on eight hits. Blacksher struck out four and did not issue a walk for a second consecutive start. The right-hander has now worked at least seven innings in four straight starts.

Blasi was struck in the helmet with a pitch in the top of the first and remained in the game until the bottom of the fifth.

Justin Young pitched a scoreless eighth inning. The X's loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth against Joe D'Alessandro, but a key double play turned by Michael Thompson and Steve Pearson helped stabilize the inning.
