The Reading Fightin Phils' offense clicked on all cylinders on Saturday. They defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 11-2. The Fightins outhit the Rumble Ponies 13-4 and everyone in the batting order reached base safely at least once in the contest.

Four R-Phils had multi-hit games. Jonathan Guzman led with three hits, including a triple, and three RBIs. Mickey Moniak and Kevin Vicuna also hit triples and had two hits apiece. Vito Friscia tallied two hits as the designated hitter, including a home run in the second inning. Moniak, who is rehabbing a broken right hand, also raked in three RBIs.

Friscia broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second inning with a solo home run to right field. Jack Conley and Vicuna each followed with singles. Vicuna stole second base to put runners on third and second. Guzman hit an RBI single to score Conley and make the score 3-0. Binghamton's pitcher Jesus Vargas balked, which allowed Vicuna to score and Guzman to advance to third. Moniac crushed an RBI stand-up triple to right field. He scored on Ali Castillo's sacrifice fly to make the score 5-0.

The Fightins added another run to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Vicuna tripled to right field with one out. Guzman followed with a single. Moniak delivered a sacrifice fly as Vicuna scored the sixth run of the game.

Binghamton scored their first runs of the game in the top of the sixth inning. A walk and a single put runners on first and second base. Carlos Cortes singled to score one run then a throwing error allowed a second runner to cross the plate. The Fightins made a pitching change that gave the ball to McKinley Moore and he got a strikeout to end the inning.

The R-Phils responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the sixth. With two outs, Vicuna took first after he was hit by a pitch. Guzman followed with the third triple of the game to score Vicuna. Moniak batted in Guzman with a single to right field, which made the score 8-2.

Moore and the Reading defense held the Rumble Ponies scoreless in the top of the seventh inning, which set up the home team for another high-scoring bottom half.

Aldrem Corredor led off with a single. Logan O'Hoppe walked and Josh Ockimey singled to load the bases with no outs. Friscia hit an RBI single to center field to advance every runner and make the score 9-2. Reading eclipsed double digits when O'Hoppe scored on a passed ball. Conley walked to load the bases once again. The lead increased to nine runs as Ockimey scored on Guzman's RBI groundout.

Noah Skirrow got the start in the mound for the Fightins. He pitched five scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out six.

Austin Ross relieved Skirrow in the sixth inning. He pitched two-thirds of the inning and gave up two runs, one of which was earned.

Moore got the final out of the sixth inning and pitched the seventh as well. He finished with four strikeouts and gave up one hit and no runs.

Billy Sullivan pitched a scoreless eighth inning and didn't give up a hit as he retired the Rumble Ponies in order.

Jack Perkins hurled a scoreless ninth inning and tallied one strikeout to end the game.

The Fightins will play at FirstEnergy Stadium next on Sunday, May 29 at 5:15 PM.
