Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades announced today that the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL) have reassigned defenseman Josh Wesley to the team from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL). Carolina has also reassigned goaltender Daniel Altshuller from the Everblades to Charlotte (AHL). In addition, Charlotte has recalled forward Levko Koper.
Wesley, 20, returns to the Everblades where he has logged a goal and two assists in four games played this season. Wesley recorded his first professional goal in his Everblades debut on November 4 against Norfolk. Wesley was scoreless with a +1 rating in one appearance during his recent call-up with Charlotte. The Raleigh, North Carolina native is a fourth-round draft selection of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Altshuller, 22, returns to Charlotte after posting a 4-0-0-2 record, a 1.80 goals-against-average and a 0.923 save percentage with the Everblades this season. His 1.80 goals-against-average is third best in the ECHL. The 6-4, 201-pound netminder shined with Charlotte last season, totaling a 10-10-5 record, one shutout, a 2.81 goals-against-average and a .905 save percentage. The Nepean, Ontario native is a third-round draft selection of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Koper, 26, earns the call-up with Charlotte having totaled eight points (5g, 3a) with a +9 rating in 13 appearances with the Everblades this season. Last season, the 6-0, 193-pound winger recorded 31 points in his senior season at the University of Alberta and also registered three assists in five games played with the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) last spring. Koper is under an AHL contract with Charlotte this season.
Wesley is expected to be in the lineup tonight when the Everblades battle the Adirondack Thunder to open up a four-game northern road trip. Fans can catch the game on WJBX (101.5 FM, 104.3 FM, 770AM) or online by ** CLICKING HERE (http://wjbxnewstalk.com/listen-live/)
