Evansville Otters News Release

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters 2012 season ended on Sunday night with a 10-1, rain-shortened loss to the Florence Freedom.

Evansville finishes the season with 45 wins, their most since 2005.

Florence scored a run in the first inning, four more in the third, and three additional runs in the fourth inning for the early lead.

Evansville's only run scored in the seventh inning after three walks loaded the bases and shortstop Taylor Black brought home infielder Luis Parache on a groudout.

The Freedom would add a two run home run in the eighth, see the game enter a rain delay in the bottom half, and eventually be called around 9:00 p.m.

Florence is now 57-39, clinching the third spot in the Frontier League playoffs that begin on Wednesday. Evansville ends the year 45-50.

Pitcher Alex Lewis (5-7) earns the win after relieving Ian Durham and throwing two scoreless innings. The loss goes to Evansville native Adam Champion (8-5) who surrendered eight runs in 4.0 innings.
