RiverHawks Lose Season Finale

SAUGET, Ill. - Gateway's Rogelio Noris hit two home runs on Sunday as the Grizzlies beat the RiverHawks, 8-3, at GCS Ballpark.

It was the season finale for the RiverHawks, who finished 41-55, fifth in the Frontier League West, 16 games behind division champion Gateway. The Grizzlies open the postseason at home on Wednesday.

Noris and Landon Hernandez combined to hit three home runs off Rockford starter Kyle Schepel. Noris broke a scoreless tie in the third inning with a three-run homer. Hernandez and Noris hit back-to-back homers, their 16th and 21st, respectively, to start the fifth inning. Schepel (4-7) surrendered a single to the following batter and left the game. The rookie matched a season high with seven strikeouts, but walked four in the loss.

Gateway starter Paul Tremlin (7-4) scattered four hits over five shutout innings for the win.

Jet Butler broke the shutout with a seventh-inning home run, his 10th of the year.
