Grizzlies Pick up Doubleheader Win against RiverHawks

SAUGET, IL - The Gateway Grizzlies finished Saturday night with a 13-0 win and a 5-5 tie against the Rockford RiverHawks at GCS Ballpark.

Brett Zawacki (2-2) fired five scoreless innings and the Grizzlies offense scored 13 runs on 12 hits in game one to give the Grizzlies their second win in a row. Jonathan Johnson, Chris McClendon, John Shelby, Antone DeJesus and Jerod Yakubik all drove in two runs for the Grizzlies.

Chris Enourato struggled on the mound for the Grizzlies in game two but the offense helped out with late run support. Gateway (56-38-1) scored three runs in the fifth inning on a Richie Jimenez Jr. three home run, his second of the season. Johnson picked up an RBI single and the Grizzlies scored another run on an error in the seventh to tie the game before it was called a tie before the eighth inning started. It was the second tie in Grizzlies history.

The West Division champions play their final game of the regular season Sunday night. Right-hander Paul Tremlin (6-4) makes the start for the Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 6:05 CT.
