River City Rascals News Release

O'Fallon, Mo. - Windy City tied the game at 5-5 in the seventh but River City broke the tie in the eighth on a Doug Sanders single en-route to a 6-5 win over the ThunderBolts to finish out the 2012 season with a record of 45-50.

Windy City took a 1-0 lead in the second on Rascal starter Justin Sarratt but River City took the lead back in the third when Jason Patton doubled in Eric Williams and Sanders for a 2-1 lead. The Rascals stretched it to 4-1 in the fourth on consecutive two-out hits from Keli'i Zablan and Williams but the ThunderBolts (54-42), playing for their playoff lives, scored two runs in the fifth before the Rascals got one back in the bottom of the frame on back-to-back doubles from Patton and Jeremy Synan for a 5-3 lead.

The 'Bolts pushed a run across in the sixth off reliever Cory Caruso and tied the game on a Chris Wade homerun in the seventh off Justin Gill (4-3). River City stranded two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh but Matt Serna led off the eighth with a single and would up at third after a bunt and fielder's choice from Williams. Sanders pushed a single through the right side of the infield for the go-ahead run before Nick Kennedy pitched a perfect ninth for his third save.
