St. George RoadRunners News Release

Committing six errors could not slow down Wes Ethridge and Na Koa Ikaika Maui on Wednesday night against the St. George RoadRunners. Maui hit for the team natural cycle in the fifth scoring five times en route to a 9-2 victory.

Brian Holliday allowed nine runs (seven earned) on eight hits over six innings to drop to 1-3 on the season. St. George only swatted four hits on the night led by Jermy Acey with two singles.

Etheridge lowered his GBL-best ERA to 0.37 scattering two unearned runs over six frames for his first win.

Maui plated an early pair of runs when Gered Mochizuki scored on an infield error and Keoni Ruth took home on a wild pitch.

The lead increased to 4-0 on a Ruth fielder's choice plating Ethridge and Fehlandt Lentini stole home on the back end of a double steal.

Maui extended the lead to nine runs with a Mark Okano two-run triple, Tim Battle's sacrifice fly and a solo homer from Chris Nash.

The RoadRunners lit the board in the sixth scoring twice on three Na Koa errors. Mochizuki misplayed a grounder by Carlos Sosa allowing Henry Calderon to score. Acey came in on the very next play when Bret Flowers reached on a throwing error from shortstop Rex Rundgren, who had four of the six Maui blunders.

Matt Rossignol and Monte Mansfield shutout Na Koa over the final two frames.

Game three of the series will feature the pitching battle of a former RoadRunner versus a RoadRunner All-Star. Maui will start RHP David Seccombe while St. George counters with RHP Raymar Diaz. First pitch is set for 10:35pm Mountain.

John Potter will have the live coverage from Iron Maehara Stadium beginning at 10:25pm with the Infowest Pre-Game Show.

NOTES: C.J. Lang was ejected in the seventh inning for arguing a called strike three. The STG defense had to shuffle with Calderon moving to SS, Flowers to 3B and Sosa to 1B... Acey continued his season-long on-base streak with a single in the 6th - the streak is 21 games and counting... The six errors by Maui ties an opponent franchise record for most team errors in a game - the record is held by Yuma, twice (2007, 2008)
