Tucson Toros News Release

The Tucson Toros defeated the Tijuana Cimarrones 11-2 behind a memorable pitching and hitting performance by Vince Davis on Wednesday.

The lefthander earned his third win after allowing just 2 runs in 6 1/3 innings despite not striking out a batter. Davis also led the charge offensively with a perfect 4-for-4 night at the plate. His 4 singles that raised his batting average to .455. With the victory, Vince has now won each of his last 3 starts.

All nine Toros in the starting lineup had at least one hit in the 19 hit outburst. Seven of those starters, including Davis, enjoyed multi-hit performances.

Catcher Mike Valadez belted a grand slam in the 3rd inning for his first homer of the year and also added a triple. Shortstop Ryan Priddy lanched his second homer, while Third Baseman Wally Backman Jr. went 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI on a sacrifice fly.

The Toros and Cimarrones will wrap up the series with a scheduled double header in Tijuana on Thursday. Tucson will begin a 3-game homestand against the Chico Outlaws with a Fireworks Friday on June 11th at 7:00 p.m.
