St. George RoadRunners News Release
TUCSON, AZ - Tucson starter James Garcia made his fourth start of the year against the St. George RoadRunners his best allowing one run on four hits over seven quality innings in the Toros' dominating 13-1 win in game two of a weekend series at Hi-Corbett Field.
Tucson smacked 21 hits against RoadRunner pitching setting a dubious 2010 season record for most hits from an opponent in a single game. The previous mark of 18 was bested with an RBI double by Cristobal Santana in the eighth inning.
Brian Holliday worked two scoreless innings before scattering the Toros' first two tallies in the third. In the fourth, Holliday served up a triple to Garcia and was knocked out of the game on a Francisco Plasencia RBI hit. In total, the southpaw was charged with seven runs on 11 hits in 3.2 innings of work for the loss (1-6).
St. George was held to just five hits on the night. Casey Raisbeck had the only extra-base hit with a ninth inning double. The sole run was cashed in by Yosvany Almario in the third scoring Holliday.
Josh Womack paced the Toro onslaught with four hits including a triple and his third homer of the year - a lead-off homer in the eighth. Every Tucson starter but one had two hits. Garcia helped his own cause with two hits, an RBI and two runs scored.
The RoadRunners will look to salvage the series finale on Sunday night at 8:00pm MDT handing the ball to staff ace Raymar Diaz. The righty has won his last two starts in a row. He will be challenged by southpaw Vince Davis for Tucson.
