Eskimos release Cordell Taylor; sign running back

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Eskimos today released defensive back Cordell Taylor and have added non-import running back John Williams to the practice roster.

Taylor appeared in 4 games this season, recording 14 tackles. Taylor signed as a free agent with Edmonton February 13, 2003. He appeared in 12 games for the Esks in 2001.

The Eskimos also announced the signing of former BC Lions running back John Williams. BC's fourth round selection (31st overall) in the 2002 CFL Canadian Draft, the native of Millgrove, Ontario played in 15 regular season games and the CFL West Semi-Final in 2002. Williams played primarily on special teams, posting 8 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. He also recorded 1 carry for 3 yards, 3 kickoff returns for 56 yards and 4 defensive tackles. Williams attended the Lions 2003 training camp and was released.
