Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal, September 3, 2003 - Montreal Alouettes' spectacular receiver Ben Cahoon was honoured for his exploits of last Friday in Ottawa.
Cahoon had a memorable night, scoring three touchdowns including one on a well-orchestrated field goal fake. He finished his night with 12 catches for gains of 110 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Cahoon leads the CFL with 12 touchdowns and is currently tied for the CFL lead with teammate Jeremaine Copeland with 11 receiving touchdowns, one short of the Alouettes' team record held by Chris Armstrong (18 games in 1997), Hal Patterson (14 games in 1956) and Joey Pal (14 matches in 1955).
Cahoon also dominates the league with 64 receptions and is second behind teammate Jeremaine Copeland with a total of 973 receiving yards. If he reaches 1000 yards, it will be the third time in his career he passes this milestone in one season.
It is the fifth time in 11 weeks that an Alouettes' player is named the CFL Offensive Player of the Week.
The Alouettes will be back at practice on Monday, September 8, when they prepare to take their revenge on the Ottawa Renegades at 1 p.m. at Percival-Molson Stadium (CBC/RDS/CJAD 800/CKAC 730).
