Ogden Raptors News Release
The Orem Owlz scored four unearned runs in the fifth inning to tie the game and eventually beat the Ogden Raptors 9-6 Friday night at Brent Brown Ballpark.
With the Raptors leading 6-2, Ogden starter Jose De Leon retired the first two batters of the inning. Fran Whitten then drew a two-out walk, and Nataniel Delgado singled to right. Theo Alexander's throw to third went by Mike Ahmed putting runners on second and third. Michael Hermosillo then hit a fly ball to left field that was dropped by Andrew Godbold. Both runners scored, Hermosillo ended up on third. RJ Santigate followed with a single to center to score Hermosillo. After a wild pitch put Santigate on second, Pedro Pizarro struck out on a ball in the dirt. Hunter Redman tried to complete the strikeout with a throw to first, but his throw was wide and Santigate scored on the error to tie the game, 6-6.
Orem took the lead in the sixth inning. Andrew Daniel and Wendell Soto singled to start the inning. After a lineout and a strikeout, Delgado singled to right to plate the go-ahead run, giving the Owlz a 7-6 lead.
The Raptors built a lead in the third inning. Down 2-0, Alexander singled to begin the inning. Hunter Redman followed with his second homer of the season, a two-run shot to left, to tie the game. Jimmy Allen then singled, but Devan Ahart reached on a fielder's choice with Allen out at second base. Ahart then stole second and moved to third on an errant throw by the catcher Pizarro. Mike Ahmed brought in Ahart with a triple to left field, and Cody Bellinger scored him on a groundout to put Ogden up 4-2.
The Raptors and Owlz finish their four-game series Saturday at Smith's Ballpark in Salt Lake City. John Richy will take the mound for Ogden against Arjenis Fernandez. Game starts at 7:05 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
