Great Falls Voyagers (2-5, 25-20) vs. Billings Mustangs (5-2, 22-23)

RHP Zach Thompson (1-2, 4.32) vs. RHP Wyatt Strahan (0-3, 3.80)

7:00 p.m. - Centene Stadium, Great Falls, Mont.

GF LOSES IN 17

The Voyagers played the longest game in their history Friday, and were eventually handed their fourth straight loss by Billings, 3-1 in 17 innings. The Mustangs broke the scoreless tie in the 15th, only to see Great Falls put together three straight two-out singles by John Ziznewski, Zach Fish, and Ethan Gross to tie the game. Billings then scored two in the 17th to regain the lead on a single by Alberti Chavez, and held the Voyagers scoreless in the bottom half to end the marathon affair.

MASON'S MASHING

In last night's loss, Great Falls outfielder Mason Robbins went 2-8 to extend his hitting streak to 14 games, giving him the longest hitting streak by a Voyager this year. During this run, the former Southern Miss Golden Eagle is 28-65 (.431), and has raised his batting average from .215 all the way to .323. Robbins now also has 10 multi-hit efforts over this span and eight runs batted in.

PETER'S HISTORIC NIGHT

Back on July 20 at Idaho Falls, Jake Peter tied the Voyager era (2008-present) record for hits in a game with five, including four doubles, against the Chukars. Last night, the former Creighton Bluejay broke the record, and now holds it all by himself after a six-hit effort against the Mustangs. After he was retired his first time up, Peter singled in his next five at-bats, before picking up the record-setting sixth knock in his eighth and final plate appearance of the night in the bottom of the 16th.

NOT CLUTCH

Friday's marathon game didn't lack for scoring opportunities, as the two teams combined for 25 hits. The problem for both was converting those opportunities into runs, as neither team scored until the 15th. Great Falls was 1-17 with runners in scoring position, while the Mustangs were 1-16 in those spots. The Voyagers left a season-high 19 on the base paths, while Billings stranded 11 on base.
