Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

GRAND JUNCTION, CO -- Idaho Falls looked nothing like the team that dropped the first three games of the series, and six of the past seven games. The Chukars committed no errors, hit a pair of home runs, and had important hits with runners in scoring position in a 12-1 thrashing of Grand Junction.

An eight run Chukars (22-23, 2-5) seventh inning separated the two clubs. Robert Pehl began the inning with a home run to center field. It had been seven games without a homer for Idaho Falls before that blast. After the streak of 73 homer-less innings was broken, the next batter Wander Franco also hit a home run. It was just the beginning of a marathon inning. 14 batters came to the plate for the Chukars, who hit for the cycle through seven batters in the frame. Javier Palacios (2-4) began the inning on the mound, then gave way to two other pitchers. Idaho Falls finished with eight runs, on six hits, with three walks, and two batters hit by a pitch.

Michael Jeffreys (1-1) held the Rockies down through the first six innings. Outside of a solo home run allowed to Dom Nunez, the right-hander was on point. He worked a season high six innings, while allowing only three hits, striking out a season high seven batters. The Pittsburgh native secured his first professional win.

Javier Reynoso worked the final three innings for the Chukars, recording his first save. He and Jeffreys combined to strike out 11 Rockies (27-18, 4-3), while only walking two. At the plate, Robert Pehl finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 3 for 4 with three runs scored and two more batted in.

The Chukars have an off day tomorrow before opening a seven game homestand at Melaleuca Field on Monday. Idaho Falls welcomes Helena for a four game set.
