Erie SeaWolves News Release
Erie reliever Matt Hall (2-2) was electric in the SeaWolves (25-34) 6-4 win over the Reading Fightin Phils (25-34) at UPMC Park Friday night.
The lefty worked four perfect innings in relief for the starter Anthony Castro, who surrendered four runs on four hits through the first five innings.
The SeaWolves jumped on the board in the first inning behind six singles on Harold Arauz. Josh Lester knocked in Will Maddox to put Erie on top 1-0. Kade Scivicque followed with a two-run single, and then Danny Woodrow invited another run home on a ground ball to shallow right.
Reading fought back in the third inning. Jan Hernandez crushed a three-run homer to left to bring the Fightins within one.
The visitors tied the game up in the fourth on Castro. After an errant pick off attempt sent Cornelius Randolph to third, Heiker Meneses evened the game up with a sacrifice fly to center field.
Reading would not falter until the bottom of the eighth. Lester banged a triple off the wall in left, and then Scivicque singled to bring him in. Harold Castro singled in Kody Eaves to propel Erie to a 6-4 lead.
Ranfi Casimiro (2-2) picked up the loss, as Reading has now lost three in a row. The SeaWolves return to face the Fightin Phils at 7:05 PM Saturday at UPMC Park. RHP Sandy Baez (0-4, 3.90 ERA) faces LHP JoJo Romero (3-4, 5.11 ERA).
Zambelli Fireworks will be fired off after the game to the music of Lady Gaga.
The SeaWolves will wear pink jerseys to support the fight against breast cancer. The game-worn jerseys and other items will be auctioned off during the weekend to raise funds for the Hamot Health Foundation. Approximately half of the jerseys will be auctioned off each day on Friday and Saturday.
After the game, stick around for autographs with C. Wolf and a SeaWolves player in the Team Store.
Fans can purchase 2 SeaWolves game tickets, 2 SeaWolves caps and 2 McDonald's Extra Value meals all for as low as $20. Note: Value Meal coupons can be redeemed at Erie area McDonald's locations. There is no McDonald's at UPMC Park. Offer not available after noon on game day.
