Trenton Thunder News Release

The Trenton Thunder, playing as the Thunder Pork Roll, defeated the Binghamton Spiedies (Rumble Ponies) by a score of 10-2 Friday night in front of a crowd of 7,838 at ARM & HAMMER Park, ranking among the top 20 best-attended games in the stadium's history.

Abiatal Avelino gave the Thunder Pork Roll (35-24) an early lead in the bottom of the first, hitting a line drive past the diving attempt of Binghamton (33-27) center fielder John Mora and circling the bases for an inside-the-park home run. Billy Fleming added a solo homer in the fifth inning off Spiedies starter Marcos Molina for a 2-0 Trenton lead.

In the top of the sixth, Binghamton got a leadoff double from Tim Tebow, and Levi Michael was hit by a pitch to set up a game-tying two-run single to center field by Peter Alonso off Pork Roll starter Brian Keller. Keller had allowed just two baserunners through his first five innings and went on to receive the win in his fifth consecutive quality start, thanks to a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the sixth by Jhalan Jackson, his team-leading tenth homer of the season.

Gosuke Katoh went deep for the Pork Roll's third homer of the game in the seventh off reliver Adonis Uceta, and the team went on to rally for six runs in the bottom of the eighth off Uceta and Austin McGeorge. The rally saw 10 players step to the plate, and included a streak of four straight hits as well as a two-run homer by Trey Amburgey.

The four home runs in the game, and the total of 17 hits, were both season-highs for Trenton. Seven of the nine men in the order drove in at least one run, and all but one collected a hit.

Rehabbing New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes went 0-for-2 in the game as Binghamton's designated hitter.

Your Thunder continue their homestand on Saturday night at 7pm against the Rumble Ponies. RHP Dillon Tate (3-2, 3.64) will start for the Thunder, and RHP Nabil Crismatt (6-2, 2.93) will go for Binghamton. The evening will feature a postgame Fireworks Spectacular, presented by Mercer County Improvement Authority. Tickets are available by phone at 609-394-3300 or online at TrentonThunder.com.
