Today, the Erie SeaWolves look to win the rubber game of the series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at UPMC Park. Last night, Erie evened the series with a 5-3 victory behind a quality start from Matt Manning and three home runs from the offense. Joey Wentz makes his first start in the Detroit Tigers system after being traded from Atlanta on July 31 as a part of the Shane Greene deal. In 100 innings this season for Double-A Mississippi, Wentz logged a 5-8 record and 4.78 ERA across 20 starts. The former 40th overall selection by the Braves in 2016 out of Shawnee East Mission High School joins an Erie rotation that now features five, top ten prospects (MLB Pipeline). Nate Pearson goes for New Hampshire and has not allowed an earned run in his past two starts (11.2 innings). A Futures Game selection this season, Pearson is ranked the No. 2 overall prospect in the Toronto farm system and top arm. In four starts since the All-Star break, the right-hander has allowed two earned runs in 18 innings (1.00 ERA). The 22 year old was Toronto's compensatory first-round selection in 2017 (28th overall l) out of the Junior College of Central Florida.
