
Rolling Moss Allows No Runs as RubberDucks Win 5-0

Akron RubberDucks got five shutout innings from newly-acquired starting pitcher Scott Moss and a clutch two-run, second-inning double by Nellie Rodriguez to defeat the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 5-0 on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park.
Turning Point
With the game scoreless and one out in the bottom of the second inning, Alex Call and Andruw Monasterio earned consecutive walks leading to Rodriguez's two-run double to the left-center power alley, giving Akron a 2-0 lead it wouldn't relinquish.
Mound Presence
RubberDucks starter Scott Moss threw five scoreless innings in his Akron debut, allowing two hits, walking three and striking out seven. He was relieved by Kyle Dowdy, who threw two scoreless frames (1 H, 1 BB, 2 K). Argenis Angulo allowed three walks and struck out four in two innings following Dowdy to pick up his second save.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks attack was led by Marabell, who went 2-for-4 with a run batted in...Rodriguez's two-run double gave him the only multi-RBI total...Logan Ice lined a single to left to score Rodriguez in the three-run second inning...In the two-run eighth inning, Trenton Brooks drove in Nolan Jones with a triple into the right-field corner and Marabell singled to center to score Brooks.
Notebook
Marabell's two-hit game is his team-leading 28th multi-hit game. He has three consecutive multi-hit games and has hit safely in 11-of-13 games since July 21, with a .354 average (17-for-48) over that span. Over his last nine games dating to July 25, he's hit safely in 8-of-9 games with five multi-hit games...Moss had gone 10 starts without a scoreless start with his last one coming May 28 at Jacksonville while with Chattanooga...Akron won a home series for the first time since sweeping Hartford, June 11-13. That series also marked the last time before today the Ducks had consecutive home wins...The back-to-back shutout wins are the first since Akron swept Bowie in a doubleheader on April 20 at Canal Park...Binghamton won the season series 11-6 and went 6-4 in 10 games at Canal Park...Time of Game: 2:50...Attendance: 4,985.
On the Pond
The RubberDucks start a six-game road trip on Tuesday following an off day tomorrow. The trip kicks off with three games in New Hampshire against the Fisher Cats with Tuesday's game scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM, the WARF iHeart channel, and the TuneIn Radio App. LHP Adam Scott (4-1, 3.45) is scheduled to face New Hampshire's RHP Justin Dillon (3-2, 3.89).
