ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves look for eight straight wins as they take the field in the middle game of a three-game set against the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins) at Jerry Uht Park. The âWolves are on a season-best seven-game winning streak and are the hottest team in the Eastern League winning 10 of their last 11 and 12 of their last 14 games. The seven-game winning streak is the longest current winning streak in the league. Since the all-star break, the âWolves are 19-8 and the team is in fourth place in the Southern Division, 14 games behind first place Akron and Bowie. Erie is also 10-1 in the month of August. The SeaWolves are 5-1-1 in series following the break. Erie is in a stretch of 12 straight games against Northern Division opponents. The SeaWolves and Rock Cats meet six times in a span of 10 days...The Rock Cats have dropped two straight and are in last place in the North, 24 games behind first place Trenton. New Britain is 5-5 in the last 10...Righty Josh Rainwater takes the mound for Erie making his 21st appearance and 20th start. He has picked up wins in each of his last two starts and is 3-1 in his last four. In his last start against Reading, Raintwater tied a season-high with eight innings pitched. He allowed a run on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts en route to his ninth win of the season. Rainwater has allowed one run over his last 15 innings pitched...RHP Jay Rainville takes the mound for the Rock Cats making his 21st start. Rainville appeared in three games, two starts, with Class-A Fort Myers June 17-28. He took a loss in his last outing against Bowie going five innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
