Today, the Erie becomes the Piñatas as they try to win their fifth series of 2019, after defeating the Bowie Baysox yesterday, 6-1. It is the first of four times Erie will don the Piñatas uniforms as a part of the Copa de la Diversion initiative by Minor League Baseball. Erie has hit three home runs for a second consecutive game as the offense who had not scored more than four runs in nine straight days entering the series, has now scored 11 times in the past two games. Matt Manning will toe the rubber for the Piñatas, coming off his first loss of the season on April 30 at Altoona. The right-hander currently leads the Eastern League in strikeouts (41), BAA (.141, and is second in WHIP (0.73). Manning will be opposed by Marcos Molina for the Baysox, who is coming off winning his first decision of the season, on April 30 vs. Richmond. In two starts against Erie, Molina has tossed 11.1 innings and allowed four runs on six hits, with eight strikeouts. The former Mets farmhand was signed by New York as a free agent back in 2012, spending six seasons in the system, before being released this past offseason and signed by Baltimore.
