ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves begin the back end of their longest road trip of the season (11 days, nine games, three cities) as they open up a three-game series against the Trenton Thunder (New York Yankees) at Waterfront Park. The 'Wolves snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-5 come from behind win over Connecticut on Sunday. The win allowed Erie to keep pace in the Southern Division wild card race as five of the six teams in the EL South won on Sunday. The 'Wolves enter tonight's game in third place in the division, 1.5 games behind wild card leading Reading and a half game ahead of fourth place Bowie. Despite losing seven of the last 10 games, Erie has only dropped a half game in the wild card standings...The 'Wolves are 2-4 on the current road trip. Erie is tied for the fewest road wins in the EL (22-35) and since July 8, the SeaWolves are 4-12 away from Jerry Uht Park...The three-game series with Trenton wraps up Erie's schedule against the EL North. The 'Wolves are 22-15 and 8-3-1 in series against the North. The 'Wolves have dropped their last three series (all against Northern Division clubs)...The SeaWolves took three of four from Trenton in the two clubs only other series at Jerry Uht Park June 30-July 3. Erie and Trenton have alternated season series wins in each of the last three seasons. Erie needs one win in the three game series to win the season series over the Thunder...Lefty Ramon Garcia takes the mound tonight for Erie. Garcia is making his eighth start and the SeaWolves have not won a game started by Garcia this season...The 'Wolves are hitting .268 over their last 10 but have hit only one home run during that span.
