Tonight, the SeaWolves look to rebound from last night's loss as they take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants) in the third game of a four-game series at The Diamond. On Tuesday night, the 'Wolves jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth inning, only to watch the lead slip away in the next half inning when the Squirrels struck back with four and went on for a 5-1 win. The 'Wolves and Squirrels are in a three-way tie for fourth in the Western Division, 1.5 games out of first. All six teams in the division are separated by 1.5 games...Richmond enters the game with the league's top pitching staff with a 2.82 ERA. The Flying Squirrels have allowed 154 runs (second fewest). Richmond's offense is 10th with a .229 team batting average...The SeaWolves made three roster moves on Wednesday. RHP L.J. Gagnier was promoted to Triple-A Toledo following last nights start. LHP Jay Voss and RHP Zach Samuels have been called up to Erie from Class-A Lakeland. Voss is scheduled to start for the SeaWolves on Thursday in Richmond...Righty Luke Putkonen is making his ninth start of the season and is still in search of his first win. Putkonen has taken losses in back-to-back starts and in five of his last six games. In his last start at Bowie, Putkonen allowed six runs, five earned, on six hits with three walks and a strikeout in five innings...RHP Justin Fitzgerald takes the mound for the Flying Squirrels making his ninth start. Fitzgerald snapped a string of three straight losses with a win in his last outing at Reading. He allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits with four walks and three strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work. Fitzgerald is 1-3 with a 5.48 ERA in May.
