Richmond Flying Squirrels News Release
RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A Affiliate of the 2010 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, have announced plans to recognize "Supermom" Tiffany Goodwin prior to the game tomorrow night, May 26th, at The Diamond.
"The image of 'Supermom' was a combination of amazing timing and phenomenal photography," said Flying Squirrels Vice President and COO Todd "Parney" Parnell. "While there have been many great catches at The Diamond, Tiffany's has to rank among the best. We just felt like it was appropriate to allow her to 'take a bow' so to speak."
As part of the pre-game festivities to honor Goodwin, she will be presented with a Gold Glove Trophy courtesy of Crown Trophy with the date of the catch, May 15th, 2011, inscribed on it. In addition, she will be given a Flying Squirrels jersey with the number 15 to commemorate the date of the catch, and Goodwin will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
The image of Goodwin's catch was captured by Richmond Times-Dispatch photographer Mark Gormus at the Flying Squirrels contest against the Harrisburg Senators on Sunday, May 15th. The Times-Dispatch will be presenting Goodwin with a special framed copy of the original article featuring her amazing grab.
Thursday night's contest will also feature another installment in the Flying Squirrels' Thursday Night Fireworks Series presented by American Standard, SunTrust, AT&T and Lite 98. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM and gates will open at 6:00 PM.
Tickets for the Thursday Night Fireworks Series as well as individual game tickets for the Flying Squirrels' remaining 2011 season are on sale now. Season tickets and mini-plan packages are also available and can be purchased by calling (804) 359-FUNN (3866), visiting the Flying Squirrels Ticket Office at The Diamond or visiting SquirrelsBaseball.com.
