Tonight, the SeaWolves begin their final road trip of the season as they begin a three-game series at New Britain Stadium against the New Britain Rock Cats (Minnesota Twins). The ‘Wolves are coming off of a loss on Sunday in the final game of the Connecticut series as the club was unable to complete a sweep. The ‘Cats took the first series against the ‘Wolves winning two of the three games at Jerry Uht Park last week. Since the all-star break, the ‘Wolves are 21-11 and the team is in fourth place in the Southern Division, 15 games behind first Bowie. Erie is also 12-4 in the month of August. Erie is in a stretch of 12 straight games against Northern Division opponents. The SeaWolves and Rock Cats meet six times in a span of 10 days.The ‘Wolves are 7-3 in their last 10 games...The Rock Cats have won five straight games, including the final two games of the series against the ‘Wolves and a three-game sweep against Akron. They are 6-4 in their last 10 games...Righty Josh Rainwater takes the mound for the SeaWolves, making his 22nd appearance, 21st start and second start against the Rock Cats. He took a loss to New Britain on August 13, breaking a string of two straight wins. In the game, Rainwater went 6.1 innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Rainwater has walked four batters in three of his last four starts. Erie is 4-2 in the last six games started by Rainwater...RHP Jay Rainville takes the mound for the Rock Cats making his 22nd start of the season. Rainville took a no-decision against the SeaWolves on August 13 going 5.1 innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
