Trenton, NJ - For the fourth consecutive game, the Harrisburg Senators fell behind early, battled back late, but fell short for a one-run loss. This time, it was the Trenton Thunder who topped Harrisburg on Tuesday at Waterfront Park, 6-5. Edgardo Baez had three hits in the defeat.

It was a tough start for the Senators as they put their first two batters on base, but couldn't cash in during the top of the 1st. Then, RHP Adrian Alaniz left with an undisclosed injury after retiring just one Trenton hitter in the bottom of the 1st inning.

RHP Zack Segovia came in from the bullpen and provided valuable relief innings, but still left in line for the loss. In the bottom of the 2nd, Colin Curtis pounded a leadoff home run to make it 1-0 Thunder. Trenton tacked on another run in the 4th when P.J. Pilittere lifted a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to double the lead to 2-0. Segovia held the score there and retired the side.

The Senators finally got on the board in the top of the 5th. Garrett Guzman and Edgardo Baez hit back-to-back one-out singles to put runners at the corners. Ian Desmond followed with a sacrifice fly to cut it to 2-1.

Trenton extended the margin in the 6th. Chris Malec ripped a leadoff double and went to third on a single by Curtis. Pilittere bounced into a run-scoring double play to make it 3-1.

In the 7th, the Thunder scraped together two more runs. Edwar Gonzalez singled and James Cooper walked to start the inning and a bunt moved them up. RHP Josh Perrault was summoned from the bullpen and allowed an RBI single to Kevin Russo. Austin Jackson followed with an RBI groundout to make it 5-1.

The Thunder put up another in the 8th. Pilittere reached on an error to lead off the inning, went to second when Cody Ehlers walked, then scored on a bloop single by Gonzalez to give Trenton a 6-1 advantage.

The Senators made it interesting in the 9th, bringing the tying run to the plate against relief RHP Kevin Whelan. Javi Herrera and Guzman walked, then Baez singled to load the bases with nobody out. The next batter struck out. A wild pitch allowed Herrera to score and cut it to 6-2. After another strikeout, another wild pitch brought Guzman home and it was 6-3. Bynum hit an RBI single to make it a 6-4 game and moved all the way to third on two more wild pitches, but Marvin Lowrance struck out to end the game.

Segovia took a tough loss to fall to 2-1 with Harrisburg. Trenton RHP George Kontos fired six strong innings to pick up the win and move to 5-11.

The Senators dropped to 68-62. Trenton improved to 78-50.

The Senators and Thunder meet again Wednesday at 7:05 PM. LHP Cory VanAllen (3-2, 4.99 ERA) will be opposed by Trenton RHP Eric Hacker (6-3, 2.73 ERA).
