Last night's 4-1 win gave the SeaWolves their first season series win over the Defenders since the 2004 season. Since the all-star break, the 'Wolves are 25-12 and the team is in fourth place in the Southern Division, 15 games behind first place Bowie. Erie is also 16-5 in the month of August. Today is the final game for Erie against a Northern Division opponent. The SeaWolves and Defenders meet six times in a span of 10 days. The 'Wolves are 6-4 in their last 10 games. The 16 wins in August is the most by month in 2008 for the SeaWolves. The 'Wolves are gunning for their sixth series sweep of the season...The Defenders are two games under .500 and in fourth place in the Northern Division, 16 games behind first place Trenton and six games behind wild card leading Portland. They are 3-7 in the last 10 games...Righty Josh Rainwater takes the mound for Erie making his 23rd appearance and 22nd start of the season. He took a no-decision in his last start against New Britain on August 19. In the game, Rainwater went seven innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts. He left the game with a two-run lead but the bullpen could not hold on as the 'Wolves fell 6-5. Rainwater looks to become Erie's first 10 game winner.
