ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves look to make it three straight wins as they take on the winless Altoona Curve (Pittsburgh Pirates) at Blair County Ballpark. Tonight is game three of a four-game series and game seven of the season series against Altoona. Erie held off a late charge by Altoona in the bottom of the ninth to improve to three games over .500 on the young season. All six of Erie's wins have come against Altoona...Tonight's game features the top two hitters in the league. Altoona's Brian Friday leads the league with a .500 (11x22) batting average while Erie's Scott Sizemore is second with a .429 (15x35) average. Righty Luis Marte makes his second start of the season and his first against Altoona. Marte was sharp in his first outing against Bowie despite taking the loss. He went 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Erie stranded a season-high 11 runners on base in a 2-1 loss to the Baysox. Marte was tied for third in the EL with four wins last August. Erie starting pitchers have registered wins in each of the last two games...RHP Mike Crotta makes his second start of the season against Erie. He shutout the 'Wolves in five innings on April 11, allowing five hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Crotta was the Pirates 17th round selection in the June 2006 draft out of Florida Atlantic University...Erie pitchers have walked 23 on the season which is tied for fewest in the league...The 'Wolves are looking for their second three-game winning streak of the season.

TODAY'S NOTABLES -

- 11 of the 24 players on Erie's roster are featured among the Top 30 prospects in the Tigers organization according to Baseball America.

- Erie will see just two different opponents (Altoona and Bowie) in the first two weeks of the season. (8 vs. Altoona and 6 vs. Bowie).

- Erie leads the season series over Altoona 6-0. The 'Wolves and Curve meet 25 times in 2009.

- Scott Sizemore has hit safely in six straight and eight of the first nine games of the season. He leads the league with 15 hits and is tied for the league lead with two triples with Altoona's Brian Friday.

- Erie's pitching staff ranks eighth in the league with a 3.44 ERA. Altoona's pitching staff ranks last in the league with a 4.64 team ERA.

- Mike Hollimon is listed as day-to-day after crashing into the wall down the left field line in Tuesday night's game.

- Erie's offense ranks ninth in the EL with a .232 team batting average. Altoona is ranked 11th with a .225 team average.

- Erie pitchers have allowed just two runs over the last 36.0 innings against Altoona. The staff had gone 20.2 straight innings against the Curve prior to giving up a run in the bottom of the ninth of last nights game.
