Energy Rally Past Sioux Falls 113-103

DES MOINES, IA, December 3, 2010- The Iowa Energy overcame a six point halftime deficit to defeat the Sioux Falls Skyforce 113-103 Saturday night in South Dakota. Iowa outscored Sioux Falls by 21 points in the 3rd quarter to break open a back and forth first half.

Guard Kyle Weaver led the Energy with 30 points including five 3-pointers. Center Courtney Sims added 21 points for Iowa, which moves to 6-1 on the season with the win.

Sioux Falls used a 10-4 run at the end of the first half to take a 61-56 lead into the halftime break. Iowa responded in the 3rd by opening the quarter with a 16-6 run including a pair of Curtis Stinson jump shot to take a 72-67 lead at the 7:00 mark. After the teams traded several baskets, the Energy went on another run, this one 16-4, late in the quarter to stretch their lead to 91-75. Iowa outscored Sioux Falls 37-16 in the quarter.

The home team, featuring Minnesota Timberwolves guard Johnny Flynn, would fight back to narrow the score to 106-100 with 3:37 left in the game. But Stinson responded by scoring the next four points of the game to give Iowa the win.

Stinson finished with 16 points, 11 assists and 6 steals for Iowa.

Sioux Falls was led by Miami HEAT assignee Dexter Pittman's 18 point, 15 rebound performance. Chris McCary led the Skyforce with 20 points while Flynn added 8 points and 9 assists on the night.
