Texas Legends News Release
Frisco, TX (December 3, 2010) - The Texas Legends used a huge third quarter outburst to run past the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 111-103 on Friday night at Dr Pepper Arena.
After losing the first game in franchise history to the Vipers, the Legends have been on a roll, winning their fourth straight game and second in a row at home.
The Vipers jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the first three and a half minutes of the game, but the Legends came back with an 8-1 run of their own to cut the deficit to three.
RGV seemed to have control of the game at halftime with a 48-39 lead, but the Legends answered in a big way in the third quarter. They scored as many points in the third as they did in the entire first half, outscoring the Vipers 39-25 and going from down 14 to up five by the end of the quarter. This was a lead the Legends would not relinquish the rest of the game
The Legends were led by veteran guard Antonio Daniels, who scored 22 points to go along with his game-high nine assists. Justin Dentmon also had a solid night on the floor, with 21 points and eight boards.
The game also marked the third contest for the Legends in the Skillet Series (games against the other teams in Texas- RGV and Austin). With the win, the Legends improved to 2-1 in that competition.
Texas will finish their first home stand in franchise history tomorrow night against the Tulsa 66ers. The tip time for the game is at 7:00 p.m. at Dr Pepper Arena.
