Reno Bighorns News Release
BISMARCK, N.D.- The Reno Bighorns extended their league-best record to 6-0 Friday night, as they used balanced scoring and a huge third quarter to defeat the Dakota Wizards, 97-88, in the Dakota Civic Center.
With the game tied 52-52 at halftime, Reno pulled away by outscoring Dakota 25-11 in the third quarter. Beginning midway through the third, the 'Horns used a 24-3 run to take a 20-point lead early in the fourth before Dakota would fight back to give the Bighorns a fourth-quarter scare.
In the fourth, Dakota cut the Bighorns lead to four points with under three minutes to play, but Reno would hold on to win their sixth-straight contest to open the season.
Aaron Miles paced Reno with 18 points, while Nick Fazekas chipped in with 17. With all five starters registering double-figure point totals, the 'Horns now have had at least five players score in double figures in every game this season.
Renaldo Major and Chris Johnson paced Dakota with 17 points apiece.
The Bighorns travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., tomorrow to face the Sioux Falls Skyforce at 5 p.m. PT. Reno returns home Friday, Dec. 10 for a Friday/Saturday doubleheader against the defending champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Both games next weekend tip off at 7 p.m. PT.
