York Revolution News Release

(York, Pa.): What will Shawn Hedrick do for an encore performance? It won't be long before fans have an opportunity to see York's local son take the mound again at Sovereign Bank Stadium. The probable dates for Hedrick's upcoming starts were officially announced by Revolution manager Andy Etchebarren today.

Hedrick will make his next start this Tuesday night, again facing the league's top offensive team, the Newark Bears, on the road at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium. Hedrick held the Bears in check in his first start, in front of a raucous crowd in York on Wednesday night, cheering on the York County native. Fans can keep tabs on Hedrick and the Revs that night by listening to the Revs' radio broadcast on NEWSRADIO 910 WSBA or online at YorkRevolution.com beginning at 6 p.m.

Hedrick is scheduled to toe the home rubber at Sovereign Bank Stadium next Sunday, September 6, against the Bridgeport Bluefish, the big finale of the Revs' Labor Day Weekend. First pitch that afternoon is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The game on September 6 promises to be another huge day at Sovereign Bank Stadium, with a pregame autograph session on the field, catch on the field, and postgame Kids Run the Bases presented by rabbittransit. Also that afternoon, the Revs will be offering the first 250 kids (ages 12 and under) a free ticket to the Hershey Bears game on October 31st.

The 34-year-old rookie had dominated the local townball scene for 18 years prior to making his professional debut on Wednesday night. Hedrick turned in a dazzling performance against Newark, allowing just three runs in 6.1 innings, and exiting the game to a thunderous ovation from the crowd, all on their feet, and many wearing Revolution Hedrick T-Shirts, purchased at the First Cap Team Store.

"I'm so happy for him," Etchebarren said following Hedrick's debut performance on Wednesday. "I'm sure he was nervous. He didn't walk anybody. It's hard to explain what he feels like right now. He's 34 years old; he got to pitch in a game like this, his first start against the best-hitting team in the league. He was outstanding."
