August 29, 2009 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

On Friday night/Saturday morning at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Maryland, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and Bridgeport Bluefish tied the Atlantic League record for innings played with 18, and set a new Atlantic League record for time of game with a six hour, 42 minute affair. The game featured 14 different pitchers (six for Bridgeport, eight for Southern Maryland), and was started following an 18-minute rain delay at 7:23 p.m., ending at 2:05 a.m. Bridgeport prevailed by a final score of 9-6.

Bridgeport's third baseman Luis Lopez tied the game at six with a solo home run to left field to lead off the top of the ninth inning, which would be the last scoring in the game until the Bluefish pushed across three runs in the top of the 18th, and hung on for the victory. With the loss, the Blue Crabs dropped to 7-4 in extra inning games this season, and 3-3 in extras at home at Regency Furniture Stadium, but still hold the best overall record in the Atlantic League at 71-44 (42-28 first half, 29-16 second half).
