Eugene Emeralds News Release

EUGENE, Ore. - After falling behind early, the Eugene Emeralds clawed back but could not complete the comeback, losing 6-3 to Everett on Friday night at PK Park.

Starter Oscar De La Cruz (4-3) suffered the loss for the Emeralds (25-29, 8-6). The right-hander allowed five runs on seven hits in five innings with five strikeouts. Reliever Pedro Araujo allowed just one run on one hit in four innings with seven strikeouts to keep the Ems in it. Catcher Tyler Alamo went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run to pace the offense.

Everett jumped out to an early lead with a three-run first inning. After a dropped exchange on a double play attempt kept the inning alive, Corey Simpson lined a two-out RBI single to left followed by a two-run homer to left center by Alex Jackson. Everett tacked on another run in the second on a solo blast to left by Yordi Calderon. Neither team had homered in the first two games of the series before the Aquasox went long in back-to-back innings.

Eugene got on the board with a two-run third. Ricardo Marcano drew a walk and later scored on RBI groundout by Frandy De La Rosa. Donnie Dewees doubled and scored on a single by Ely Jimenez. Everett got one run back in the fourth when Jordan Cowan doubled and eventually scored on a balk.

Eugene made it a two-run game when Blake Headley tripled in a run in the sixth, his first triple of the year. Everett tacked on an insurance run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Calderon.
