Tonight is the second of five scheduled meeting between the Jackals and Road Warriors this season, and second of two at First Arena. The Jackals are 3-1-0 in their history against the Road Warriors which includes a 2-0-0 mark at First Arena. The Jackals fired the opening salvo in the season series with a 7-1 victory over Greenville on October 13. That night 12 of the Jackals' 16 skaters registered at least one point in the win and Marc Cheverie stopped 26 shots. The Jackals will try to use their league-leading power play, which was 3-for-8 in last Saturday's win over Trenton, to take advantage of Greenville's 20th ranked penalty kill.
The Jackals have an opportunity tonight to tie the Alaska Aces for the most home wins in the ECHL with seven. The Jackals 6-2-0 mark at home is the best mark in the Eastern Conference and has them on pace to win 27 games at First Arena. Their success has come as a result of tidy defensive work. The Jackals' home goals-against average of 1.63 is the best in the ECHL. They have given up more than two goals on home ice just once this season and they score an average of 3.75 goals per game. Their opponents tonight, the Road Warriors, are 6-2-0 away from Greenville but all six of the road wins came against the South Division.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals are back on First Arena ice on Friday, November 23, 2012 to take on the South Carolina Stingrays at 7:05 p.m. The Jackals are hosting Demet's Turtle Toss at the game so come prepared to catch some candy thrown out to the crowd by the folks from Demet's.
