
Ellis returns from DL stint

Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne Wizards, in conjunction with the San Diego Padres organization, have activated right-hander Jonathan Ellis from the disabled list. Ellis was originally placed on the disabled list on August 16 after leaving his last outing against the Clinton Lumber Kings (Texas Rangers affiliate) after 1 2/3 innings on August 15.
Ellis first started as a reliever for the Wizards pitching staff before moving into the starting rotation on July 23 against the Swing of the Quad Cities (St. Louis Cardinals affiliate).
For the season, in 40 appearances (five starts), Ellis is 5-3 with a 3.57 earned run average. In 75 2/3 innings, he has allowed 75 hits, 23 walks and struck out 66.
Ellis was the sixth round selection by the San Diego Padres in the 2004 June Amateur Draft.
The Wizards roster is now at the league-maximum 25 players.

WIZARDS NOTES:
Fort Wayne's first playoff game will be on Thursday, September 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the second game of the best-of-three series. The Wizards also have announced that national entertainment act, the Zooperstars, will make a return appearance to Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 3. The Zooperstars were scheduled to appear on Saturday, August 13 but were forced to reschedule after the Wizards game against the South Bend Silverhawks (Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate) was rained out.
