GAME OF THE WEEK: Swing 4, Cougars 3 (10) The Swing played only five games this week, going 2-3, but they made Friday night's victory a memorable one. With rival Kane County in for their only time of the season and a crowd of 4,406 on hand for Keep Scott County Beautiful Night, the game got off to a slow start...an 80-minute rain delay in the second inning. The teams then battled to a standstill, as they were tied, 1-1, for most of the night. The Cougars broke through for two-runs in the top of the ninth on Gregorio Petit's second home run of the game, before Nick Stavinoha and Chris Patrick each had ninth-inning singles, and Juan Lucena knocked home the tying run with a single into right. Mike Sillman held Kane County scoreless with a perfect tenth inning, and then Cody Palmer drilled a game-winning solo homer to send the Swing to victory. The packed house roared, then stayed around for the longest and most fantastic fireworks show of the season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cody Palmer In a week in which the Swing scuffled a bit all around but clawed to a 2-3 record, on of the Swing's unsung heroes has earned player of the week honors. With one big Swing on Friday, Cody Palmer sealed a thrilling comeback victory for the Swing. But more importantly, he has been a rock behind the plate. With Spencer Wyman on the disabled list, Jose Mendez going down after just three innings of play, and Richie Cormier yet to see game action, Palmer has been the Swing's only option behind the plate for nearly two weeks. A former Sioux Falls Canary (where he was a teammate of Keith Mitchell), Palmer has caught 84 of the Swing's last 87 innings. With a game-winning home run and an incredible show of stamina, that's enough to earn Palmer player of the week honors.
